ERTALON® LFX (Green) Cast Nylon 6

ERTALON® LFX is an internally lubricated cast Nylon 6 specifically developed for un-lubricated moving part applications. The built-in solid lubricant significantly reduces friction — up to 50% lower than standard cast nylon — and delivers improved wear resistance and longer service life.

Ideal for dry-running applications where external lubrication is impractical, ERTALON® LFX offers excellent load-bearing capability, good mechanical strength, and smooth, quiet operation.

Common applications include gears, bushes, bearings, wear pads, rollers, and sliding components in industrial environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Ertalon LFX?

Ertalon LFX is an internally lubricated cast nylon 6 (PA6 + oil) developed by Mitsubishi Chemical Group (formerly Quadrant EPP). It is self-lubricating, specifically formulated for unlubricated, highly loaded and slowly moving parts. The evenly dispersed non-toxic lubricant is built in during the casting process and remains an integral part of the material.

What are the key advantages of Ertalon LFX over standard cast nylon?

Ertalon LFX offers up to 50% lower coefficient of friction than standard cast nylon, up to 10 times better wear resistance, higher pressure-velocity (PV) capabilities, and does not require external lubrication. It also provides high mechanical strength, stiffness, hardness and toughness.

What colour is Ertalon LFX?

Ertalon LFX is available in green, black and yellow. The green colour is the most common stock form for rod and plate shapes.

Is Ertalon LFX food safe?

No. Ertalon LFX is not FDA compliant, not European Food 1935/2004 compliant, not 3A-Dairy approved and not USP Class VI certified. For food contact applications, consider standard Ertalon or other food-grade nylon grades.

What is the maximum operating temperature?

Ertalon LFX can operate continuously at 90 C for up to 20,000 hours, or 105 C for shorter durations (5,000 hours). The heat deflection temperature under load (1.8 MPa) is 75 C.

What chemicals is Ertalon LFX resistant to?

Ertalon LFX has acceptable resistance to aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, inorganic salt solutions, and ketones/esters. It has limited resistance to weak acids, weak alkalies, alcohols, chlorinated solvents, hot water/steam and continuous sunlight. It is not suitable for use with strong acids (pH 1-3) or strong alkalies (pH 11-14).

Can Ertalon LFX be machined?

Yes, Ertalon LFX has excellent machinability. It can be turned, milled, drilled and sawed using standard metalworking tools. Its self-lubricating properties also help reduce tool wear during machining.

What applications is Ertalon LFX best suited for?

Ertalon LFX is ideal for bearings, bushings, wear pads, rollers, gears, slides and guide rails where external lubrication is impractical or undesirable. It is particularly suited to slow-moving, highly loaded applications such as crane wheels, conveyor components and material handling equipment.
