How letter and stencil pricing is calculated

  • Live cut-to-size rate per square metre direct from our PIM, multiplied by the total character area.
  • Cutting is charged on actual laser time - the cut-path length around every character divided by the cut speed for that material thickness.
  • Thicker materials cut slower, so they take more machine time and cost more (e.g. 10mm acrylic cuts at half the speed of 6mm - twice the laser time).
  • Stencils are priced as a single sheet covering the full text + 20mm margin each side.
  • Laser bed validates against 3000mm × 1500mm - soft warning above 90%, hard block at the limit.
  • $99 + GST minimum machine charge, plus material.

Common questions

What's the smallest letter you can cut?
Reliable cut quality on letters down to 50mm tall, depending on font weight and thickness. Below 50mm, fine serifs and counters can chip - we'll flag this at quote.
Can you match my brand font?
Yes - email an SVG, AI or PDF of your wordmark and we'll cut to that exact path. Image-only files attract a small one-off vectorisation fee.
Why does thicker material cost more per character?
Laser cutting speed drops substantially with thickness. A 20mm letter takes ~5× longer to cut than a 3mm letter of the same height - the thickness surcharge captures that machine time.
How are letters mounted?
Most customers use VHB tape (the tape add-on above) or stand-offs. We can supply pre-drilled mounting holes on request.
What's the lead time?
Standard 3–5 business days for laser-cut letters and stencils. Rush turnarounds on request.
