Why choose Polycarbonate Sheet (UV Resistant)?
Polycarbonate sheet is the toughest clear plastic in common use, with roughly 250 times the impact resistance of glass at around half the weight. It is the material behind machine guards, safety glazing and riot shields. You may see it sold under brand names such as Lexan or Makrolon; the material is the same polycarbonate, and what we supply is UV stabilised for Australian sun.
It cuts, drills and thermoforms readily, and unlike acrylic it does not chip or craze when worked, which makes it forgiving for both fabrication shops and DIY. Common uses include machine guards , safety glazing, greenhouses , signage and general fabrication.
Benefits of polycarbonate sheet
- High impact strength: around 250 times tougher than glass, so it absorbs heavy impacts by flexing rather than shattering.
- Optical clarity and UV protection: excellent transparency with built-in UV resistance for long-term outdoor exposure.
- Temperature and weather resistance: handles Australian extremes without yellowing or going brittle, and stays tough from freezer temperatures to around 120°C.
- Easy to fabricate: cuts, drills and cold-bends without chipping, unlike acrylic.
Applications
- Glazing and roofing: suits skylights , greenhouse panels and protective barriers , being light and shatterproof.
- Machine guards and safety shields: impact-resistant protection for industrial and commercial settings.
- Signage and displays: clear, durable and weather resistant for signs, posters and retail displays.
Colours and finishes
- Clear
- AR Clear (abrasion resistant)
- Opal
- Tint
We cut polycarbonate to any size you need. Price your cut online , or send us a drawing if the part needs machining, bending or fabricating as well.
