Display Case FAQs

What acrylic thickness should I choose for my display case?

For cases up to 300mm in any dimension, 3mm acrylic is sufficient. For medium cases (300-600mm), we recommend 5mm. For larger cases or heavy items, 6mm or thicker provides the rigidity needed to prevent bowing. Our team can advise on the best thickness for your specific dimensions.

Are the dimensions I specify internal or external?

All dimensions you enter in our calculator are internal dimensions - the usable space inside the case. The external dimensions will be slightly larger depending on the acrylic thickness you choose (e.g. a 300mm internal width in 5mm acrylic gives a 310mm external width).

Can I have one or more sides left open?

Yes. Our standard configuration leaves one side open so you can place the case over your item. You can also request cases with a removable lid, sliding panels, or multiple open sides - just note your requirements in the quote form.

Do you include a base with the display case?

Bases are optional. Many customers place the case over an item on an existing shelf or plinth, so no base is needed. If you'd like an acrylic or timber base, select the base option in the calculator or mention it in your quote request.

How are the panels joined?

We use solvent (acrylic cement) bonding for a clean, near-invisible join. For thicker panels or structural cases, we can also use UV-cured adhesive. All joins are hand-finished and polished for a professional result.

What is the maximum size you can make?

We can fabricate cases up to 2400mm in any single dimension using standard acrylic sheet sizes. For very large cases we may need to use multiple bonded panels - our engineers will advise if this applies to your dimensions.

Can I get a display case in coloured or frosted acrylic?

Absolutely. We stock clear, opal (frosted white), black, and a range of coloured acrylics. Tinted options like smoke grey and bronze are also available. Specify your preference in the quote form.

How long does fabrication take?

Standard display cases ship within 5-7 business days. Complex or oversized cases may take 7-10 business days. Rush orders can often be accommodated - mention your deadline in the quote form.
