Wear Strips and Liners for High-Abrasion Plant
Chutes, hoppers, bins and machine slideways handling bulk material, product or stock take constant abrasive wear. Steel liners rust and eventually wear through; timber splits and swells. Plastic wear strips solve both problems, giving a hard-wearing, low-friction surface that keeps material flowing and protects the structure underneath.
We cut UHMWPE, HDPE and acetal wear strips and liners to size, either as flat sheet ready to bolt or bond in place, or profiled to fit a specific chute angle or slideway.
Material Choice: UHMWPE, HDPE and Acetal
UHMWPE offers the best abrasion resistance of the group and is the standard choice for high-wear chute and hopper liners handling ore, aggregate, sand or other abrasive bulk materials.
HDPE is a cost-effective alternative for moderate-duty liners and general wear strips, while yellow mining-spec HDPE sheet is formulated for extra toughness and UV stability in outdoor mineral processing environments.
Acetal (POM-C) is the choice where dimensional precision matters more than raw abrasion resistance: think machine slideways, guide strips on packaging equipment, and other applications needing tight tolerance and low friction rather than heavy-duty wear life.
Where Wear Strips Are Used
Wear strips show up across mining and quarrying (chute liners, screen decks, hopper walls), manufacturing (slideways, feed tracks, guide rails), packaging (product chutes, infeed guides) and general fabrication where anything slides, drops or is dragged across a surface repeatedly.
Correctly specced wear liners typically outlast steel liners several times over in abrasive service while eliminating the corrosion and buildup issues that come with rusting steel.
Mining-Spec and Heavy-Duty Options
For high-throughput mineral processing plant, yellow mining-spec HDPE sheet is purpose-formulated for continuous abrasive duty and UV exposure, and is a common direct swap for worn steel or rubber liner plate.
Thicker gauge UHMWPE (25mm+) is also available for the heaviest-duty impact and wear zones, such as truck tub liners and primary crusher feed chutes.
Cutting, Fixing and Replacement
We cut wear strips to length and width on the panel saw, profile bolt holes and rebates on the CNC router, and can supply pre-drilled kits matched to an existing liner pattern so replacement is a straight swap.
Wear strip specs often say Polystone or Tivar rather than UHMWPE. Our engineering plastic trade names guide cross-references the brands to the materials we cut.
Send us a sample of the worn liner or a drawing with key dimensions and we'll match material, thickness and fixing pattern for a like-for-like replacement.
