Custom Safety Screens for Counters, Desks, and Workstations
Safety screens became a familiar sight across retail counters, reception desks, and office workstations, and remain a practical, low-cost way to add a physical barrier between people at close range without shutting off communication or light. Cut from clear acrylic or polycarbonate sheet, a safety screen lets conversation and eye contact continue naturally while adding a layer of separation.
Beyond their original use, safety screens are now a permanent fixture in many pharmacies, banks, and service counters as an ongoing hygiene and security measure.
Acrylic and Polycarbonate for Safety Screen Applications
Clear acrylic sheet is the most common material for indoor safety screens, offering excellent clarity at an accessible price point for standard desk and counter applications. Polycarbonate sheet is worth specifying for higher-traffic or security-sensitive locations, where its superior impact resistance adds protection against accidental knocks or deliberate force.
Sneeze guards, a close relative of the general safety screen, are purpose-built with pass-through gaps and are covered in more detail on our dedicated sneeze guard page.
Freestanding, Desk-Mounted, and Clamp-On Options
Screens can be supplied as freestanding units with a stable base for temporary placement on a counter or desk, clamp-mounted to an existing desk edge for a semi-permanent fit, or fully framed and fixed for a permanent installation. Pass-through gaps at the base allow documents, cards, or money to be exchanged without lifting the screen.
Curved or angled screens can also be fabricated where a straight panel does not suit the counter shape.
Safety Screens for Schools, Libraries, and Public Facilities
Schools, libraries, and council service desks often need safety screens that are durable enough for public use but unobtrusive enough not to create an unwelcoming atmosphere. Clear acrylic screens with polished edges and minimal framing achieve this balance, maintaining an open, approachable counter while providing a physical separation layer.
For environments with younger users, polycarbonate is worth specifying for its shatter resistance, and rounded corners should be standard on any screen within reach of children.
Ordering Safety Screens for Multiple Sites
For businesses fitting out multiple locations, whether that is a chain of pharmacies, bank branches, or retail counters, we can produce matching screens from one approved template so every site gets a consistent look and fit.
Provide your counter or desk dimensions and preferred mounting style and we will quote screens ready to install.
