HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) Polyethylene is a durable and versatile thermoplastic known for its high strength-to-density ratio. It is lightweight, impact-resistant, and resistant to moisture, chemicals, and UV exposure, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications. This material provides exceptional durability while remaining cost-effective.

Natural HDPE Cutting Boards – The Hygienic Choice for Food Prep

Natural HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) cutting boards are a top choice in commercial kitchens and home cooking alike. Their dense, non-porous surface resists moisture, bacteria, and staining, making them exceptionally hygienic and easy to clean. Unlike wood, HDPE won’t absorb liquids or retain odors, and it's gentle on knife edges to help keep blades sharper for longer. Durable, food-safe, and dishwasher-friendly, HDPE cutting boards offer long-lasting performance and peace of mind for safe food handling.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is HDPE sheet?
High-density polyethylene sheet is a tough, chemically inert plastic used for cutting boards, tank fabrication, wear liners, ute and truck liners, and outdoor projects. It does not absorb moisture, resists most chemicals, and machines and welds easily.
Is HDPE food safe?
Food-grade HDPE complies with food-contact requirements and is the standard material for commercial cutting boards and food processing surfaces. It will not harbour bacteria or absorb liquids.
How do you cut HDPE sheet?
HDPE cuts easily with woodworking tools: circular saws, jigsaws, and routers all leave a clean edge. For exact panels with drilled holes and radiused corners, order it cut to size and it arrives ready to fit.
What is the difference between HDPE and UHMWPE?
UHMWPE is the ultra-high molecular weight version with roughly three times the abrasion resistance and a slicker surface, suited to chute liners and wear parts. HDPE is the economical choice for fabrication, cutting boards, and general panels.
Can HDPE be used outdoors?
Yes, UV-stabilised grades handle Australian sun for years without going brittle, which is why HDPE is used for outdoor furniture, marine fit-outs, and mining-spec panels.
What is HDPE checker plate?
Checker plate HDPE has a raised diamond pattern on one face for slip resistance, used for walkways, ute trays, ramps, and platforms. It meets slip-resistance standards and comes in black, grey, and high-visibility yellow.
Can you glue HDPE?
Standard adhesives do not bond well to polyethylene. HDPE is joined by plastic welding or mechanical fixings instead, and our fabrication team welds HDPE into tanks, trays, and enclosures to drawing.
What thicknesses does HDPE sheet come in?
We stock HDPE from 1mm through 20mm, with thicker slabs available for machining. Every sheet can be cut to your exact dimensions with the online calculator.
My spec says PE300, PE500, or PE1000. What do I order?
Those are the European grade codes for the high density polyethylene family. PE300 is standard HDPE sheet, PE500 is the tougher high molecular weight grade, and PE1000 is the ultra high molecular weight version, which we supply from our UHMWPE range. Tell us the grade on the spec and we will quote the matching material.
