Outdoor Privacy Screens

An outdoor privacy screen needs to handle UV, rain, wind, and temperature swings without cracking, yellowing, or losing its screening effect. Cast acrylic sheet is UV-stabilised to resist the yellowing and brittleness that cheaper plastics develop after a year or two of sun exposure, while polycarbonate sheet adds virtual unbreakability for sites where impact resistance matters as much as weather resistance.

Unlike timber slat screens, acrylic and polycarbonate panels require no painting, staining, or sealing, and will not rot, warp, or attract termites. A wipe-down with soapy water is the only maintenance needed to keep panels looking clean.

Perspex Frost sheet is the standard choice for patio and deck screens where the goal is to block the neighbours' line of sight without turning an outdoor living area into a dark box. The frosted finish diffuses light evenly across the panel, so screened areas still feel bright and open.

For alfresco dining areas and covered patios, combining frosted lower panels with clear upper panels gives privacy at seated height while preserving garden or sky views above. This stacked approach is popular in side-by-side townhouse developments where ground-level privacy is the priority.

Privacy screens around pools and spas serve double duty: screening the bathing area from neighbours while also providing wind protection that makes poolside seating more comfortable on breezy days. Frosted or tinted panels maintain the sense of an open outdoor space while blocking direct views.

Note that privacy screens installed as part of a pool fence must comply with local council pool fencing regulations regarding height, gaps, and climbability. We can cut panels to specified dimensions, but compliance responsibility sits with the installer and building certifier.

For boundary screens between properties, acrylic panels mounted between existing fence posts add height and privacy without the heaviness of a solid extension. This is especially useful on properties with lower boundary fences where a full timber extension would require council approval, but a lightweight translucent screen may not.

Garden feature screens using decorative laser-cut patterns in solid-colour acrylic create visual interest while still providing partial screening, and are popular as standalone garden art as well as functional dividers.
