Packers and Shims Cut to the Size Your Job Actually Needs
Every glazier, chippy, and installer knows the frustration: the packet from the hardware store has four thicknesses, none of them right, and never enough of the one you use most. We cut plastic packers and shims from HDPE sheet in any thickness from 1mm up and any footprint, in whatever quantity the job needs, from a box of fifty to several thousand for a commercial fit-out.
Plastic packers do not rot, crush, or wick moisture the way timber packing does, and they hold their thickness under sustained load. Once a plastic packer is set, the gap it holds stays held for the life of the installation.
Window Packers and Glazing Packers
Window packers position and level frames in their openings before fixing, and glazing packers set the glass within the frame so its weight transfers to the right points. Standard packers run from 1mm to 15mm thick, and we supply them colour-coded by thickness so the crew can grab the right packer at a glance. For commercial glazing, shopfronts, and curtain wall work we cut oversized packers to suit heavier units and deeper reveals.
Because every packer is cut rather than moulded, there is no tooling cost and no minimum beyond the material itself. If your installers keep asking for a 4.5mm packer that nobody sells, we can cut exactly that.
Horseshoe Packers for Fast Levelling
Horseshoe packers have a U-shaped slot that slides around a bolt, stud, or anchor that is already in place, so you can add or remove packing without unbolting the frame. They are the standard for levelling steel posts, balustrade base plates, machinery feet, and precast panels. We cut horseshoe packers to any bolt size and thickness, laser-cut so the slot width is consistent across the whole batch.
Structural and Load-Bearing Shims
Where the packing carries real load, material choice matters. For precast panel levelling, bearer packing, and machinery installation we cut shims from UHMWPE or nylon sheet, which carry the highest compressive loads of the common engineering plastics. Tell us the bearing load and we will recommend the right material and shim area for the application.
Any Size, Any Thickness, Any Quantity
Packers and shims are laser cut or CNC routed depending on thickness and quantity, with holes, slots, chamfers, and rounded corners cut in the same pass. Your sizes are saved as a cutting program, so reorders are identical batch after batch, which matters when packers feed a production line or a franchise install crew working to a standard detail.
Trade Quantities Without the Retail Markup
Retail packets suit a weekend job, not a trade running installs every day. We supply packers by the box or by the thousand, mixed thicknesses in one order, delivered to the workshop or straight to site anywhere in Australia. For builders and glazing companies we can set up a standing order so the ute never runs out of the sizes you burn through fastest.
