Description

PERSPEX® VA/VE are specialist grades of genuine PERSPEX® cast acrylic engineered with built-in UV-absorbing properties for high-performance glazing and display applications. These acrylic sheets combine the trusted durability, optical quality, and ease of fabrication of standard PERSPEX® with enhanced UV protection, making them ideal where protection from ultraviolet light is essential.

Two variants are available:

  • PERSPEX® VA – a colourless UV-absorbing acrylic that offers maximum optical clarity while still filtering harmful UV radiation, ideal for picture frames, artwork glazing, and applications requiring true-to-life colour viewing with protection.

  • PERSPEX® VE – a slightly tinted acrylic with a higher UV-blocking capacity that absorbs up to 99.99% of UV light below 400 nm, tailored for safeguarding highly sensitive exhibits or artefacts from UV damage.

Both VA and VE maintain excellent surface quality, weather resistance, and long-term performance. They are easy to cut, shape, drill, and machine, and are supplied with protective film to keep surfaces pristine during fabrication.

Common applications: protective glazing for art and heritage displays, museum cases, internal and external windows, retail displays, architectural panels, shopfitting features, and other environments where UV protection and optical clarity are priorities.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is PERSPEX® VE Gallery Grade?

It is a premium UV-filtering acrylic sheet designed for picture framing, galleries, museums, and display cases where artwork protection and optical clarity matter.

What does “VE” mean?

VE refers to UV-filtering. The sheet blocks up to ~99% of harmful UV radiation below approximately 380 nm, helping reduce fading and degradation of artwork and photographs.

How does it compare to standard clear acrylic?

Standard acrylic offers little UV protection. VE Gallery Grade significantly reduces UV exposure while maintaining high clarity.

Is this the same as anti-reflective (AR) acrylic?

No. VE Gallery Grade does not have an anti-reflective coating. It prioritizes UV protection, not glare reduction. If glare control is critical, AR products are more suitable.

Is it suitable for museum or archival use?

Yes. It is commonly used in galleries and museums for framing valuable or sensitive works where UV protection is required.

What are common applications?
  • Fine art framing

  • Photography and prints

  • Museum display cases

  • Archival and collectible protection
