Display Cases for Brick Models

A large LEGO set can take days to build, and dust starts settling into every gap almost immediately. A clear acrylic cover keeps the model clean, stops small parts being knocked off and turns the build into a proper display piece. Perspex Online makes cases to the exact footprint of your set, so the same supplier can cover a small modular building, a long train layout or a tall Ultimate Collector Series ship. LEGO is a trademark of the LEGO Group, and our cases are made by us, not by LEGO.

Build Your Case Online

Our acrylic display case configurator lets you type in the finished outside dimensions, choose clear or coloured acrylic, pick a base and see a live price. It shows the internal usable size as you go, so you can check the set fits before you order. A gloss black base is the most popular choice for brick models because it frames the colours, and a raised base gives you room for a small label.

How Much Clearance to Allow

Measure the widest, deepest and tallest points of the build, including antennas, flags and minifigures standing at the edge. Then allow 30 to 50mm on each side and on top so the cover lifts off without catching. For a model you plan to add to, such as a modular street, size the base for the finished layout and the cover for the current section.

Wall Thickness and Large Sets

Covers up to about 400mm on a side are made from 3mm acrylic. Larger sets such as long ships, castles and stadiums move up to 4.5mm or 5mm so the sides stay straight and the cover is stiff enough to lift. All joints are bonded with clear adhesive such as Acrifix 192 , so there are no screws or metal corners in view.

Keeping Colours Bright

White and light grey bricks yellow in strong sunlight. A clear acrylic cover reduces the UV reaching the model, but the best protection is to keep the case out of direct sun. Clean the acrylic with a soft microfibre cloth and mild soapy water, never with glass cleaner, which can craze it.

Custom Cases

Need a hinged front door, a stepped base for minifigures, built-in lighting or a case for a whole shelf of sets? Our plastic fabrication team quotes custom builds from your measurements. For larger showcases with shelves see acrylic display cabinets .

LEGO Display Cases in Clear Acrylic FAQ

How big should a LEGO display case be?
Measure the widest, deepest and tallest points of the build and add 30 to 50mm on each side and on top. The configurator shows the internal usable size so you can check the fit.
What thickness acrylic is used for LEGO cases?
3mm for covers up to about 400mm, and 4.5mm or 5mm for larger sets so the sides stay straight.
Will the case stop my bricks from yellowing?
Acrylic reduces UV, which slows yellowing, but keep the case out of direct sunlight for the best protection.
Can I get a case with a door or lights?
Yes. Hinged doors, stepped bases and lighting are quoted as custom builds.
