Custom Acrylic Boxes and Perspex Boxes Made to Size

A clear acrylic box protects what is inside while keeping it fully on show. Perspex Online fabricates custom acrylic boxes in any size, from small keepsake and collection boxes to donation boxes, ballot boxes, product covers and dust covers for models and memorabilia. Every box is cut from cast acrylic sheet, bonded with clear-curing adhesive and finished in our workshop, then shipped Australia-wide from the Gold Coast.

If you want a standard cube or rectangular display case quickly, our acrylic display case configurator lets you choose the size, colour, thickness and base, an open side or a hinged door with an optional keyed lock, and see a live price. For anything else, such as lift-off lids, flexi hinges, slots, dividers or unusual shapes, send us your dimensions and we will quote a fully custom box.

Types of Acrylic Boxes We Make

Clear acrylic boxes with lids are the most common request: a five-sided box with a lift-off lid that sits on an internal lip, or a hinged lid that opens like a jewellery box. They suit keepsakes, cards, tea and coffee stations, and storage where you want to see the contents at a glance.

Display covers and dust covers are five-sided boxes with no base, placed over a model, trophy, signed ball or collectible on a separate plinth. They keep dust and fingers off while presenting the object like a museum piece. Larger enclosed showcases with doors and shelves are covered on our acrylic display cabinets page.

Donation boxes, ballot boxes and suggestion boxes are fully enclosed with a slot in the lid, and can include a lockable access door or a lid secured with screws. Clear sides build trust because donors can see the box being used. Logos and instructions can be added with vinyl or laser engraving.

Collection and storage boxes include divided trays for samples, card and coin collections, and stackable boxes for retail counters. Internal dividers are slotted or bonded in, and lids can be clear, opal or a solid colour from the Perspex Spectrum range.

Lids, Hinges and Joints

Box joints are bonded with solvent cement or a clear, gap-filling adhesive such as Acrifix 192 or SCIGRIP Weld-On 16. Clean, square machined edges are the secret to a near-invisible joint, which is why we cut box panels on our CNC router rather than by hand.

For hinged lids, the acrylic flexi hinge is a clear co-extruded strip that bonds to the box and lid and flexes without any mechanical fittings, so the hinge stays almost invisible. Lift-off lids use an internal lip or locating blocks so the lid sits square and does not slide. Locks, cam latches and magnetic catches can be fitted where security matters.

Choosing Thickness

Small boxes up to roughly 200mm per side are usually made from 3mm acrylic. Medium boxes and dust covers commonly use 4.5mm to 5mm, and larger boxes, covers over 500mm or boxes that will be handled often move up to 6mm or more for stiffness. Thicker walls also give more bonding area for stronger joints. If the box will hold something heavy, tell us the weight and how it will be lifted and we will size the walls and base accordingly.

Finishing Options

Exposed edges can be polished to a clear, glossy finish so the box reads as a single crystal-clear object. Our laser cutting services add slots, finger pulls, engraved logos and decorative cut-outs. Frosted, tinted, mirrored and coloured panels can be combined in one box, for example a clear box on a black base, or an acrylic mirror sheet base to reflect light up into the display.

Acrylic vs Glass for Boxes

Acrylic is about half the weight of glass, far more impact resistant, and can be cut, drilled and bonded into shapes glass cannot easily achieve. That makes it the practical choice for boxes that are moved, posted or handled by the public. Acrylic is softer than glass, so clean it with a soft microfibre cloth and mild soapy water and avoid abrasive or ammonia-based cleaners.

Order a Custom Acrylic Box

Tell us the internal dimensions you need, the lid style, the quantity and any slots, hinges or branding, and our plastic fabrication team will quote and build it. For a standard display case, use the display case configurator. For flat panels to build your own box, price them in the pricing calculator.

Custom Acrylic Boxes & Perspex Boxes FAQ

Can you make a clear acrylic box with a lid?
Yes. We make boxes with lift-off lids that locate on an internal lip, and hinged lids using a clear acrylic flexi hinge. Tell us the internal size and lid style and we will quote.
What thickness acrylic is used for boxes?
Small boxes are usually 3mm, medium boxes and dust covers 4.5mm to 5mm, and large boxes or covers over about 500mm move to 6mm or more for stiffness. Heavy contents need thicker walls and base, so tell us what the box will hold.
Can you make a donation or ballot box with a lock?
Yes. Enclosed boxes can have a slot in the lid and a lockable access door, and can be branded with vinyl or laser engraving.
Is there a quick way to order a standard display case?
Yes. Our acrylic display case configurator lets you choose the size, colour, thickness, base and access for a standard case, including a hinged door with an optional keyed lock, and shows a live price. Lift-off lids, slots and other custom features are quoted by hand.
How do I clean an acrylic box?
Use a soft microfibre cloth with mild soapy water. Avoid paper towel, abrasive cloths and ammonia or alcohol-based glass cleaners, which can scratch or craze acrylic.
